Age
For teenage girls, the smaller and more pliable Model 1 aids in easier insertion and removal.

Pregnancy
For women who have given birth, either Model 1 or Model 2 can be used. Given that childbirth brings many changes upon an woman’s cervix and vagina, you have to firstly evaluate your new cervix position (if it’s low then use Model 1 while for a higher position Model 2 is suggested), your vagina’s walls (for narrow vaginal walls you may use Model 1 while for wider walls Model 2 is suggested), as well as your new flow post-childbirth.

Bladder
Having a sensitive bladder? You may find that the softer Model 1 is a better match for you.

Lifestyle
If you have a very athletic physical fitness with strong vaginal muscles, you may consider using Model 1.

Model 1
Light to medium (normal) flow
All LUNETTE menstrual cups are soft and pliable, however, Model 1 cup is made of softer silicone than cup Model 2.

How to use
Lunette is emptied about 2-4 times a day, and can be used overnight for up to 12 hours (depending on your own flow). You will quickly learn your own rhythm of cup emptying, by viewing how much fluid your cup has gathered on the measuring lines.

1. Wash your hands
Wash your hands and check that the air-holes at the top of your cup are open. After sanitization (see step 6) rinse your menstrual cup with plenty of water and optionally wash it with the “Feelbetter Cup Cleanser”.

2. Fold and hold
Get comfy: you can insert the cup while standing, sitting or squatting. Spreading your legs will help with a successful and comfortable insertion.
Simple fold: Fold the cup in on itself to make it flat and then using the index of your other hand, squeeze on the center and fold it in half to form a C shape (read thoroughly about all cup folding techniques here: link).

3. Insert
Keep it rolled up on one hand and guide it rim first, into the vagina. To check that the cup has fully opened, guide slide a clean finger up to the cup bottom and feel it – it should be round with no folding edges.

4. Wear and learn
Your cup is emptied about 2–4 times a day and can be used for up to 12 hours, also overnight (depending on your own flow). The measuring lines on the cup help monitor your flow and easily learn your rhythm for emptying.

5. Remove and empty
Wash your hands and relax your muscles. Grasp the stem of the cup and guide your way through the bottom of the cup. Squeeze it with your fingers to “break” the seal. Be sure not to pull out the cup by holding the stem alone, without also “breaking” the seal. After removing, tip the contents into the toilet. Rinse with plenty of water and reuse.

6. Clean and sanitize
The LUNETTE cup should be sanitized before and after each period and should also be cleaned after emptying, following each use.
Cleaning: To avoid odor and discoloration, empty your cup and rinse first in cold water, then wash with hot water and optionally wash with the “Feelbetter Cup Cleanser” which is especially designed for the cleaning of medical silicone.
Sanitization: After rinsing your cup (and optionally washing with the “Feelbetter Cup Cleanser”), place your cup in a small pot with boiling water. Let it boil for about 20 minutes and rinse off with cold water. This process should be repeated at the start of each period before 1st use and at the end of each period after finishing with all uses.
